A federal jury in Nigeria has found that the company behind the latest wave of fake Viagra pills, dubbed the "Black Friday Pill," could face a sentence of 10 years in prison for selling the pills in a foreign country.

It was the biggest increase in fake Viagra pills since 1998, with more than 3 million doses of the pills being sold in the US. The total sales were up by about $1.5 billion, it said. "Our conclusion is that the vast majority of these pills, which are manufactured by Pfizer and distributed by some third parties, do not meet the safety and quality standards of the pharmaceutical industry," it said.
A similar increase in fake pills in other countries has been reported by the US and other countries, but has not been followed by the United Kingdom. A spokesman for the pharmaceutical company, Bayer AG, said: "We are not aware of any reports of these products in the US.
